Sliding all over the place

Well well, practice wasn't so bad.

It was raining in the Adirondacks, so for most of the measly hour we have for practice. After the first half hour, I forced them to go out in the drizzle. Nothing like a little whining from 12-14 year olds to make a coaches day.

So the fun part was we put down a blanket, then a matt on the top of it. So the kids could run and slide.

[One of the troubles with one-hour practice is what ever you do, you aren't doing something else. For example: if we practice sliding, we are not practicing hitting; if we practice hitting, we aren't practicing stealing.]

I am not sure what to make of this, but almost always there is at least one girl who says, "I don't feel good, my stomach is upset." Sometimes it is the same kid, but mostly it is different players.

What I would thing would be 15 minutes of fun, was --- for most of the girls. About six girls did not want to slide. Not necessarily girls who were bad at it, but for the most part the girls that should not be on the team. The reason I say they shouldn't be on the team is because of their attitude. The ones who thought I wouldn't notice that they were leaning against the wall. The ones who generally walk when they are told to run.

If I do this again, those girls will have a harder life. Or they will watch the games from the stands. In trying to make it fun for all, I made it less fun for some and those who like to complain would be better off with something to complain about.

If it doesn't rain too much, it is off to Wells . I would like to get another game in, it's better to play in the rain than to practice in the rain.

And we could practice our sliding skills.

Of course the weather isn't always bad!
